Oped pieces often stray onto narrow branches of factual support. From my readings, I believe the branch upon which you have situated your soap box is thin. Yet, I admire the piece you have written and the intent to evoke reactions from outrage, to shame, to abstract consternation. You have 'pricked the sides of intent.'

My issue lies with the undercurrent that flows like an ill wind through your article, and that being; a racist disposition festers in all the offspring of every slave holder since the pharoahs. Being a racist does not carry a genetic link.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, "No child is born hating another person for the color of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate..."

The great man said it so clearly.

Dwelling, regurgitating, reliving the atrocities of 100-200-2000 years ago does not move humanity forward.

To continue the quote; "... and if they can learn to hate then they can be taught to love." Therein lies the argument we should be choosing to focus upon. Teaching equality and acceptance today supercedes venomous blame laid at the feet of children whose DNA harkens back in a diluted state to forebearers hundreds of years ago.

Thank you for the bravery of your words. They will always be yours.
