Momentum, the air within the campaign tires, has seeped away

As I said I would, here is an update on how the Kickstarter campaign I am running for my novel, The Way, is going.

(The perfunctory disclaimer: I have limited social media skills, limited email list, but I ride a mean bicycle.)

The first week we were out of the gates with a good kick in the haunches. The pledges and support, for which I am extremely grateful, got us up and over the initial 50% mark.

The second week the momentum has dwindled, and in all fairness, this was something that Kickstarter itself says will happen.

There are only nine days left and I am struggling to find what to do to reignite the cause. I sit at 73% funding and 25 backers.

Apart from my friends and family and other contacts extended from them, I have had little success with social media.

I have not paid for advertising and am mostly focused on Instagram and Tiktok where I have a small following. I have a following here on Medium, but there has been little traction.

I have boosted a couple posts on TikTok ( a kind of paid advertising I suppose ) and viewer numbers climb to 5–7,000, but it does not translate to Kicktarter. With TikTok post boosts, one never knows who sees a post and if…
