MacDonald's is a global franchise. Perhaps where you write from the situation is appalling, but that location is not indicative of the world. I live in Japan and MacDonald's is thriving. Thriving.

Spotless.

Super super fast.

Painfully polite and cheery even when under staggering pressure. ( Lunch time in Shibuya, Shimokitazawa or Sancha, there are hundreds of orders. Literally three screens full and more waiting and yet they hammer cheerfully through.)

A scrap on the floor... never.

Actively employing new immigrants

Actively employing seniors.

Most importantly they have a new menu promotion item every three weeks. Sometimes it is seasonal others it is themed.

So, though I am sure the stories you tell are truthful they may be more indicative of the demographic than the country.

I still do a Mac D breakfast.

In any event as you say it is not super healthy.

Nice piece , keep at it.
