The set up. Getting it together, or as close as possible.

As a linear thinker, I am propelled to follow part one with part two. Dah.

Breaking this down into four hurdles. I am short, so every hurdle is a stretch and at 60+ the idea of stretching is like a my hairline — (‘nuff said).

Hurdle one. The initial mindset of the task. It took four years to reconcile this concept within my addled grey matter. Of course, Kickstarters are meant, in my opinion, to achieve two objectives; provide funding to battle the obstacles that stand before the project, or to build an awareness and following for it.

Being forever fiercely independent, (thus an indie writer), I could not get my head around making the ‘ask’. Even though the greats; Shakespeare, Dickens, Cervantes all had patrons or supporters for their works. ( I am not in their league) But… why not me?

I need not stand like a pauper with broken quill and stained shard of paper. I could give value. This was the thinking that allowed my leading leg to clear that greatest first barrier. It allowed me to contact friends and family who are crucial in achieving the all-important initial 48 hour momentum.

Approaching the second hurdle at speed. Aargh! Forms! I know for most this is rudimentary, but I break into sweats and start…
