I agree on the vocabulary 'freedoms.' For each valid point you gained in reading, you then decimated the point with slang. I believe slang to be appropriate and even beneficial, in dialogue, where as in exposition it grates my reading experience.

Perhaps the tone or voice of yor article needs a finer balance between avoiding being pedantic and rising above the street. I feel all scribes, myself included, struggle to find a tone that is informative and yet familiar.
