Great article Tim. If you have the opportunity to see a quality stage actor/ storyteller present a tale to children it incorporates all these aspects into the sharing. To speak to children, to enthrall them, to fly them on the magic carpet of 'what if', is a joy unmeasurable. It is a journey that a talented actor/shaman can cast. If a writer employs it in his writing then we, the readers/travellers, are all set adrift.
