Equality of the Sexes, Don’t See It
To know who you are, where you are, and why you are is the fiercest battle of understanding.
I am sure this will stir the pot in the wrong way for some. Without a doubt my somewhat obtuse headline will cause the ‘hair of dog’ or ‘eye of newt’ to fly from the cauldron, which would be a pity as we all have but one spoon with which to stir. To understand one’s abilities, capacities and role in the great morass of society, in the few score of years we are all blessed with, is a challenge encountered by only homo sapiens.
In the ever-evolving phlegm that constitutes social media and popular thought, I find myself in a disconnect. (It is not that surprising as I am the least appealing of individuals: a white, male, balding boomer of no fixed cultural address, which some would see as more no-bred than hy-bred.) That which serves as the flaming ember in my eye is the onslaught of egalitarianism that pervades much of the dialogue that abounds on Medium.
Too often I feel I am confronted by calls for increased equality between the sexes. I have no issue with that in the least, but am confounded by the assumption by, as I see it, too many authors that every white, boomer with a bald pate and a one pack seethes in loathing for the finer sex. (I use that not as a pejorative but as an outright compliment.)
