Authors are lower than avocados.

I buy an avocado at a stand (2.50$ in my hood,) but don't get around to putting it in a salad for two days. Half of truns brown, geh, so I lose. Do I go back to the store and throw a wobbly... no. Demand my money back? no.

I am lower than that, I am an author, pressed to lower my sales price to less than an avocado, then to have it read (hopefully enjoyed) and returned. Digitally without leaving the kitchen? It is obscene the way Amazon has forced authors to be virtual beggars selling virtual matchsticks on the street corner.

Respect for the arts is at an extremely low level of appreciation. It is easier to be a 15 second TikTok celebrity and soar on the skies of irrelevance than be an author/ creator and wallow among a mountain of discarded avocados.
