Accepting all Forms of Life
A caterpillar, to a butterfly, vents his free verse envy.
The pudgy body glanced up.
“Abundance surrounds you it graces your every fluttering moment
Your colors are flush, explosive and call out to me, hopeful and vibrant.
You hold wonder in your being, causing gasps and awe at your behest
To be like you, to know freedom and beauty, is my only request.”
The butterfly shook its head.
“You carry a deep magic that sleeps within and you alone can access.
To harbor such wonder, with dignity, is a pride you must not suppress.
For to transform your being, to create life anew
Is an envy that rages through me, yearning to be like you.”
The cylindrical body shuddered in confusion.
“Why would a being of elegance want to crawl and trundle on the floor?
With your kaleidoscope wings, above base beings, you alone can soar.
I yearn to be so possessed, to look down upon the word with such grace.
But I am destined to slither and slink at a decrepit pace.”
The butterfly was adamant in its protest.
