A Gaze Back.
1 min readMar 24, 2020
Those we try not to see, see more of us than we see of ourselves.
Crushed by social media flames,
a struggle alone.
Hard cement attitudes of curbs,
people, and beds.
Cardboard gives cold limbs rest when
eyes dash sympathy.
As the designer shoes strut past.
A mirrored judgement cast
scathing in silence.
Soft memories of prospects nurse
horizons and dreams.
Words cushion dark thoughts … yet
sunshine thaws fears.
As time dissolves another soul.
Gripped by self-preservation and unknown fears,
humanity must hold the hand to those who see differently.
