Through the rain I searched the surface for meaning

Photo by Pete Nowicki on Unsplash

We are rain scattered on a pond surface
diamonds dissolved through time
swallowed by the subjective morass
forming a placid nothingness.

The tumbled, distracted ripples,
water’s chorus line of protest and joy,
dance in spirited flight
soon lost in the crystal mirror surface…
